我們最近開發了中文Windows 下的 Telnet 程式, 提供免費 Shareware (三個月)版
給非商業用途的個人和教育單位試用. 由於 users 反應熱烈, 茲將常見的問題整理如下:
Q: 小弟想將 cwtelnet.zip 放置於 ftp site 上供他人取回試用,不知道貴公司
是否同意此種做法？
A: 只要是開放 anonymous login 的 ftp site 我們都很高興同意放置.
Q: 試用過 cwtelnet 發現顯示速度有點慢,每次換頁都一行行的出現, 好像使用 modem
的情況喔！ 用起來有點怪.
A: 這就說來話長, 如果您用過資Ｘ會的 Telnet , 可能會看過一個現象: 游標和中文字
的位置無法配合. 我們的產品早期也有這個困擾, 最後只好在顯示每個中文字時都依
照字型大小計算座標, 在加上為了讓字型大小能隨視窗大小變化, 放棄了使用系統字
, 所以顯示中文時我們的軟體比較慢些, 但一般 user 反應都還能接受 (總比游標位
置錯亂好) , 如果在 NT 或 Windows 95 中文版上, 非系統字顯示也快很多, 所以今
天呈現在您眼前才會是這樣的產品, 還請您多多包涵.
Q: 我的應用程式如利用 DDE 經過 cwtelnet 送資料到主機?
A: 可以用 DDE POKE, 其中 service name 和 topic name 請用選單『資料連結』/『設
定資料名稱』的『服務名稱』及『主題名稱』, item name 則隨便給.
Q: 我可以利用 cwtelnet 把『記事本』上的文字丟到主機的 vi 上嗎?
A: 可以,
1. 請先在記事本上設定區塊, 選擇『編輯』／『複製』.
2. 以 cwtelnet 執行主機上的 vi, 打 'i' 進插入模式, 選擇『編輯』／『貼上去
』即可.
Q: 正式版本增加那些功能? 價錢?

Q: 我曾 ftp wicl.wicl.com.tw/UPLOAD/cwtelnet.zip , 577K 左右, 速度實在不是普通
的慢, 是否有其他的 ftp site 可以拿到這個檔案?
A: 在我們更換成 64K 專線前, 只得請大家忍耐一段『交通黑暗期』, 目前已知的

Q: 剛輸入的中文字有時無法馬上出現, 得按 Ctrl-L 才會出來.
Q: 捲動速度方面, 我設了 "快", 但還是一行行的捲上去.
Q: 另外, 安源的cwtelnet還有一個小缺點: paste稍徵大量的文字資料會
發生嚴重錯誤(掉一大堆字), 網路負荷越重, 掉越多.
Q: 從 Netscap 呼叫 cwtelnet 同時開幾個都沒問題, 可是如果結束
Netscape 再重新執行 Netscape 呼叫 cwtelnet 則會造成 General
Protection Fault.
A: 以上四個問題在正式版中就不會出現了. 由於 Shareware 版是由較早
前的版本關閉轉碼、部份鍵盤對應, 重新 Compile 而成, 我們未事先
說明清楚和正式版會有何不同是我們不對, 在此向各位致十二萬分的歉
意, 您可以考慮購買正式版, 或等下次我們 Release Shareware 版(
至少三個月後 ). 我們畢竟還得靠銷售正式版維生, 實在無法拿最好的
版本讓各位免費試用.
Q: 以 Winsock programming skill 而言, ewan, trumpet telnet
採用 Async 方式, 遠比 cwtelnet 的 tight loop 搶 CPU 的
programming 方式好太多了.
A: 能提出這個問題顯然是 WinSock 高手, 感謝您撥冗為我們做這麼深入
的測試. 理論上使用 tight loop 是會搶 CPU 的時間, 不過我們在呼
叫 recv() 前都先等到 Windows Message Queue Empty 才做, 也就是
如果有任何 Windows 程式需要使用 CPU , cwtelnet 都會先讓出 CPU
, 即使 cwtelnet 正在傳輸大量資料, 也會定時讓出 CPU 給其他應用
程式使用, 所以我們的程式既不會像一般 tight loop 嚴重佔用 CPU
也不會像傳統 message driven Windows 程式一搶到 CPU 就霸佔不放
. 我們在程式規劃初期也曾在 BSD socket 相容性和 WinSock Async
之間的取捨熱烈討論過, 最後考慮長期計劃將移植到 UNIX 上, 而且
tight loop 所將產生的技術問題也可以解決, 才做這樣的取捨. 無論
如何, 我們還是相當感謝您的建議, 並列入下次改版的參考.
Q: 如果每個 sitelist 都能存有獨自的設定,那就好多了.
A: 事實上 cwtelnet 對每個 host 都分別記錄所做的設定, 您可以試試.
如果您需要多個 ICON 分別連上不同主機只要在『程式管理員』選『檔
案』／『開啟新檔』／『程式項目』, 在『指令行』輸入
C:\WICLTCP\WNTELNET.EXE your_hostname_or_ip_address
即可.
Q: 這個程式是不是用英文版轉的?
A: 也難怪您會這樣問. 這個程式的 prototype 是由幾個剛留美歸國的工
程師所開發而成的, 初期大部份的 message 都是英文, 後來才改成中
文版, 對於中文的處理也下了不少工夫, 雖然我們自『王安電腦』時期
即累積了不少中文處理的技術與經驗, 如果還有未盡如人意的部份, 希
望各位仍能持續不吝指導, 讓軟體中文化能做得更好. 據我們所知, 市
面上許多中文 telnet 程式都是由 public domain 的英文 source
code 修改而成, 不只中文處理問題多多, 而且很不穩定, 甚至於有著
作權問題....再說下去就有點像同業惡意攻擊了, 還是由使用者客觀評
斷較好.
Q: 貴公司和『王安電腦』有何關係?
A: 我們曾經是美國『王安電腦』在台灣的子公司, 致力於王安電腦中文化
, 近二十年來業績一令人側目, 即使數年前美國王安申請『破產保護』
, 我們每年仍保持盈餘數億台幣, 近幾年逐漸由『統一企業集團』收購
, 技術策略上也逐漸由封閉系統走向開放系統, 除了對以前王安客戶持
續高品質服務外, 也協助王安客戶依需要轉換至開放系統, 並同時開發
開放系統新客戶. cwtelnet 最早是為了讓 PC users 能透過 TCP/IP
網路連上王安主機而開發的, 普遍獲得客戶好評, 為了讓王安系統以外
的客戶也能分享我們的研發成果, 才決定推出 Shareware 版開拓新客

Q: 請問那邊可以買到正式版?
A: 由於和經銷商還沒談妥, 目前只能直接向本公司購買, 或者透過本文末
的劃撥帳號.
Q: 正式版所附的 TCP/IP Kernel 是否為 work space?
A: 不是的. 我們所附的 TCP/IP Kernel 和 Novell Lanwork Place TCP/IP
Transport 完全相同. 我們曾測試許多商業、非商業的 TCP/IP Kernel
大都和 Novell Netware 配合得不是很好, 有些完全不能並存, 有些勉
強加掛 odipkt driver 仍然不穩定, 但是國內使用 Novell Netware
的環境實在非常多, 最後我們選擇和 Novell 合作, 獲得正式授權將
TCP/IP Kernel 合併在我們的軟體中銷售.
Q: 我發現她好像不能 cls.
A: 請在 shell 下用 "set" 檢查一下是否 "term=vt100", 如果不是請下
$ TERM=vt100
或
% set term=vt100

Q: 選單上「資料連結」是做什麼用的?
A: 就是 DDE ( Dynamic Data Exchange ) , 如果您在 Windows 下開發應
用程式 ( Visual Basic 也可 ) , 就可以利用 DDE 取得 cwtelnet 畫
面上的文字資料, 以及利用 DDE POKE 輸入資料到主機. 最常見的是把
主機上文字式的應用程式, 轉換成 GUI 的 Windows 程式, 而不必修
改主機上的程式. 更複雜的應用甚至可以再加上 CGI , 做成 WWW 的
Home page.
Q: 在 vi 用好像有 bug 在 screen scroll down 時(按 Up arrow ) 會不
正常 os 是 hp/ux.
A: 請在 shell 下

A much more important factor in the social movement than those already mentioned was the ever-increasing influence of women. This probably stood at the lowest point to which it has ever fallen, during the classic age of Greek life and thought. In the history of Thucydides, so far as it forms a connected series of events, four times only during a period of nearly seventy years does a woman cross the scene. In each instance her apparition only lasts for a moment. In three of the four instances she is a queen or a princess, and belongs either to the half-barbarous kingdoms of northern Hellas or to wholly barbarous Thrace. In the one remaining instance208〞 that of the woman who helps some of the trapped Thebans to make their escape from Plataea〞while her deed of mercy will live for ever, her name is for ever lost.319 But no sooner did philosophy abandon physics for ethics and religion than the importance of those subjects to women was perceived, first by Socrates, and after him by Xenophon and Plato. Women are said to have attended Plato＊s lectures disguised as men. Women formed part of the circle which gathered round Epicurus in his suburban retreat. Others aspired not only to learn but to teach. Ar那t那, the daughter of Aristippus, handed on the Cyrenaic doctrine to her son, the younger Aristippus. Hipparchia, the wife of Crates the Cynic, earned a place among the representatives of his school. But all these were exceptions; some of them belonged to the class of Hetaerae; and philosophy, although it might address itself to them, remained unaffected by their influence. The case was widely different in Rome, where women were far more highly honoured than in Greece;320 and even if the prominent part assigned to them in the legendary history of the city be a proof, among others, of its untrustworthiness, still that such stories should be thought worth inventing and preserving is an indirect proof of the extent to which feminine influence prevailed. With the loss of political liberty, their importance, as always happens at such a conjuncture, was considerably increased. Under a personal government there is far more scope for intrigue than where law is king; and as intriguers women are at least the209 equals of men. Moreover, they profited fully by the levelling tendencies of the age. One great service of the imperial jurisconsults was to remove some of the disabilities under which women formerly suffered. According to the old law, they were placed under male guardianship through their whole life, but this restraint was first reduced to a legal fiction by compelling the guardian to do what they wished, and at last it was entirely abolished. Their powers both of inheritance and bequest were extended; they frequently possessed immense wealth; and their wealth was sometimes expended for purposes of public munificence. Their social freedom seems to have been unlimited, and they formed combinations among themselves which probably served to increase their general influence.321 The old religions of Greece and Italy were essentially oracular. While inculcating the existence of supernatural beings, and prescribing the modes according to which such beings were to be worshipped, they paid most attention to the interpretation of the signs by which either future events in general, or the consequences of particular actions, were supposed to be divinely revealed. Of these intimations, some were given to the whole world, so that he who ran might read, others were reserved for certain favoured localities, and only communicated through the appointed ministers of the god. The Delphic oracle in particular enjoyed an enormous reputation both among Greeks and barbarians for guidance afforded under the latter conditions; and during a considerable period it may even be said to have directed the course of Hellenic civilisation. It was also under this form that supernatural religion suffered most injury from the great intellectual movement which followed the Persian wars. Men who had learned to study the constant sequences of Nature for themselves, and to shape their conduct according to fixed principles of prudence or of justice, either thought it irreverent to trouble the god about questions on which they were competent to form an opinion for themselves, or did not choose to place a well-considered scheme at the mercy of his possibly interested responses. That such a revolution occurred about the middle of the fifth century B.C., seems proved by the great change of tone in reference to this subject which one perceives on passing from Aeschylus to Sophocles. That anyone should question the veracity of an oracle is a supposition which never crosses the mind of the elder dramatist. A knowledge of augury counts among the greatest benefits222 conferred by Prometheus on mankind, and the Titan brings Zeus himself to terms by his acquaintance with the secrets of destiny. Sophocles, on the other hand, evidently has to deal with a sceptical generation, despising prophecies and needing to be warned of the fearful consequences brought about by neglecting their injunctions. Pulteney and Bolingbroke carried the same attack into the pages of The Craftsman, but they failed to move Walpole, or to shake his power. The English Government, instead of treating Wilkes with a dignified indifference, was weak enough to show how deeply it was touched by him, dismissed him from his commission of Colonel of the Buckinghamshire Militia, and treated Lord Temple as an abettor of his, by depriving him of the Lord-Lieutenancy of the same county, and striking his name from the list of Privy Councillors, giving the Lord-Lieutenancy to Dashwood, now Lord Le Despencer.
